PostSubject: What If? Poem   What If? Poem Icon_minitimeThu Mar 28, 2013 1:42 pm

Wrote a random poem called "What If?"...

What if I wasn’t I, and you weren’t you?
What if the world wasn’t round, and one plus one wasn’t two?
What if my eyes did not see, and your ears did not hear,
What if we never spoke, or dropped a tear?
What if the ocean wasn’t wet, and the ground was not hard?
What if food was not for eating, and this glass not a rough shard?
What if we could walk on clouds?
What if sunbeams were made of whimsical sounds?
What if the sky was not lit, and the sea never stormy?
What if the stars did not glow, and the mud never wormy?
What would we do, if the roads were not paved?
What would we live for, if we were never saved?
What if birds could not fly, though fish had wings?
What if eggs hatched to flowers, and buds to seeds?
What if I lived in your life, and you in mine,
What if my name was yours, and yours… was mine?
What if dogs didn’t bark, what if cats never slept?
What if milk came from clouds, and the ocean had no depth?
What if rainbows were a fairy tale, and trees just the same?
What if dreams were reality, wouldn’t that be a shame?
What if families did not exist, what if towers were not tall?
What if airplanes never flew, what if phones did not call?
What if we were all alike, yet no one was the same?
What if humans were identical, and no one was to blame?
What if forever was not a fantasy, and eternity was just life?
What if time never ticked by, what if death could not be done by a knife?
What if history was not recorded, and books were only on cooking?
What if ghosts could be seen, but only if one was looking?
What if grass was not green?
What if skin was not a color?
What if you were not you,
What if I am some other?

I like this, Ace. It's so Pisces. Just the kind of poem I might wright myself. Two lines in particular I'd like to comment on: First, we are all alike but not the same. We are all human, and being human gives us certain characteristics alike. And yet we are all so very different, having individual personalities. So that line really isn't a what-if. It's true.

Second line that interesting: What if ghosts could be seen, but only if one was looking. Actually, in a way, that is true as well. But not with ghosts, but with all of reality. Google (or Bing) Schroedinger's Cat. There's probably an article on Wikipedia. You will find that you are more right than you know about not seeing something until you look at it.

Great poem, Ace. Good job. Smile

Thanks for reading! I will work on the lines you mentioned. I actually had been second-guessing that part about humans, but now it's confirmed, so I'll go ahead and change it. Smile

No problem. I enjoyed it. Make sure to check out Schrodinger's Cat. It will blow your mind.
